Permitted Uses (Personal, Studio, and Commercial Client Work)
You are granted a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to download and use our background images from collections such as Photo Editing Backgrounds, HD Photo Backgrounds, and Photo Studio Backgrounds for:
- Personal portrait and social media edits: Layering your own portrait cutout over a background in Picsart, Snapseed, Photoshop, or our browser tool.
- Commercial photo studio & album prints: Printing customer portraits, wedding albums, and convocation frames at local photo studios.
- E-commerce & marketing graphics: Placing product cutouts onto our marble, stone, or studio plates for marketplace listings, YouTube thumbnails, and digital ads.
Prohibited Uses (Resale, Stock Redistribution, and Standalone Wallpaper Apps)
- No standalone redistribution: You may not sell, sublicense, or redistribute the unmodified background image files as stock photos, ZIP packs, Telegram channel downloads, or mobile wallpaper apps.
- No trademark registration: You may not register a downloaded background plate as part of an official corporate trademark or logo.
- No unlawful or deceptive use: You may not use any asset in violation of our Terms of Use.
How We Source and Verify Our Background Collections
In strict compliance with our asset governance policy, we never scrape images from Pinterest, Google Images, or competitor sites. Every collection asset is either designed in-house by our graphics team, commissioned under a written work-for-hire agreement, or verified CC0 with recorded provenance.
Attribution Guidelines and Structured Data Metadata

Is attribution required when I use a background in a YouTube thumbnail or Instagram post?
Attribution is not mandatory when the background is used as part of a composite edit (with your portrait, product, or typography layered on top), though a link back to PhotoBackground.in is always appreciated.
Can a local photo studio print these backgrounds behind customer portraits for a fee?

Why am I not allowed to upload unmodified backgrounds to another stock photo website?
Our licence grants you the right to create composite works, not to compete as a raw stock distributor. Uploading unmodified or minimally cropped plates to Pinterest boards, stock sites, or wallpaper apps is prohibited.
How do you track the creator and licence provenance of every image in your library?
Every image published on PhotoBackground.in is recorded in our internal provenance spreadsheet with its filename, creator name, creation date, source category (in-house graphic design, commissioned shoot, or verified CC0), and collection slug.
